Conference Surprise

This past weekend we were able to listen to General Conference at our home.  While we were watching it, Carter came in yelling"Fire!  There's a fire!"  Carter is extremely afraid of fire and loud noises.  Neal and a couple friends ran out to see what was going on.  Sure enough there was a fire right behind our fence.  Our neighbor diagonal behind us--(you got that:), he buried some ashes on the fence line.  On the other side of the fence, our neighbor right behind us, had some dry plants/bushes and that's what caught on fire.  The flames were a good 6 ft. tall.  Our neighbors were able to get it out without calling the fire dept.  But it was quite the excitement.  The sad part is, is that Carter ran to our meeting place (the mailbox) as soon as he saw the smoke, but no-one came out.  That's why he ran in to tell us to get out.  Broke my heart.  He did exactly what he should have done--he told the grown ups and hit up the meeting spot.  I just can't imagine how he must have felt standing by the mailbox with everyone else inside.:(

Yay to Carter for listening and remembering where the meeting spot is! What a good kid.
